Guadalupe Mountains National Park is relatively new and unknown. It is located in far west Texas on the New Mexico border and includes the highest point in Texas. It looks dry and forbidding but the park ranger said that inside the park, in the canyons and valleys, it is very green and lush. We didn't have time to check it out but I'll go back. It looks like a hikers paradise.
